UN 2023 Water Conference

In March 2023 the world will come together in New York during the UN 2023 Water Conference. The Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Republic of Tajikistan, co-hosts of the Conference, are committed to make the Conference a watershed moment that brings stakeholders from all sectors together.

Our Partners

In commission of the ministry of infrastructure and water management , Wavemakers United and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education are organizing the UN2023 Gamechanger Challenge. This challenge is supported by many global youth organizations for water.

World Water Week Stockholm

During the Stockholm World Water Week 2022, Wavemakers United and IHE Delft have launched the UN2023 Gamechanger Challenge. A global challenge for 17+ students, from all education levels, to accelerate youth engagement towards achieving all the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030 by using water. Together, students develop ideas that will solve global water challenges to ensure a climate resilient future for all. These ideas will be showcased during the UN2023 Water Conference!

UN 2023 Gamechanger challenge

The UN2023 Gamechanger challenge is all about the connection between youth and water. We want your out-of-the-box idea, inventions, and innovations. Apply as a team with fellow students, develop your idea, and broadcast it to the world!

The actual gamechanger!

While competing in the challenge you will not only work with your team on your idea. You’ll also inspire others about water and the SDG’s by giving guest lectures and organizing interactive activities in a local community. This way you’ll inspire the next generation about water and sustainability!

When you join the challenge you will get acces to our toolbox full of inspiration to provide the lesson and experiments.

Part of this guest lecture is to give the kids an opportunity to find solutions for the global water challenges. You will take these idea’s with you to develop your idea. This part can be the gamechanger because  kids have no limitions in thinking and might come up with a brilliant idea! So giving a guest lecture is a true win-win!

Network opportunities

Through this challenge, we not only inspire young people about water and a career in sustainability, but we also want to help teams develop a network in the water industry. Teams receive guidance on how to get in contact with companies, government institutions and NGOs.

We aim to pair as many local youth organizations as possible to participating teams and create a community.

Teams will be guided in this process through the community website and our masterclasses!

.

Collaboration with third parties

Implementable and innovative ideas need feedback and knowledge from all parts of society to be successful and impactful. So we encourage teams to seek collaborations with companies and governments that help them develop their idea. Coaches can help teams with building a network that’s relevant to their water related topic.

The third party collaborators will be a great partner to further develop your idea, gain access to a possible future employer, and build a community of like-minded innovators.

The UN2023 Water Conference in New York City will be a milestone in this challenge, but not the finish line. We need to create more climate awareness and carry out our ideas if we want to meet the SDG deadline of 2030. That’s why our Challenge does not stop in 2023!
